Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate futures PnL?

For a long position: PnL = (Exit Price - Entry Price) x Quantity. For short: PnL = (Entry Price - Exit Price) x Quantity. Subtract trading fees from gross PnL to get net result.

What is ROE in futures trading?

ROE (Return on Equity) shows your profit relative to the margin used, not the full position size. A $675 margin with $3,444 net profit gives ROE of 510%. High ROE comes from leverage.

How do trading fees affect futures PnL?

Fees are charged on both entry and exit of a position. With 0.04% taker fee and $67,500 position, you pay $27 per side — $54 total. At high leverage this can significantly reduce net profit.

What is break-even price in futures?

Break-even is the price at which your trade covers all fees with zero profit or loss. For a long position it is slightly above entry price. Use this to set realistic take profit targets.
